Why Now?
From the mainstream to not-so-mainstream media, it is obvious that people are more involved and interested in politics. Whether involving a candidate, office or issue, people are showing more interest than ever before.
OurFreedomNetwork recognizes a need for a user friendly and all-encompassing political network for people to get together for discussion, promotion, organization and/or participation in the political process beyond 'just voting'.
What Makes OFN the Best Choice?
There are sites that offer discussion groups, polls, and even campaign web sites. Unfortunately, these sites usually only provide a single item off of that short list. Most have advertising all over the place and 'online begging' for funding dollars to keep their sites alive. Many vanish as soon as 'election season' comes to an end, taking with them your information, your dollars and any information stored on their servers.
There are also a few 'political networking software' solutions available - but most are very costly to set up, expensive to maintain, incapable/unwilling to adapt to their user's needs, and require software to actually be installed on the users computer.
OurFreedomNetwork is an all-in-one, easy to use, inexpensive and globally impacting system - free of advertising gimmicks, banners and unrelated marketing ploys.
OFN is here year-round, whether it is a major election cycle, minor election, or not 'election season' at all. Your information will still be here. Your polls will still be here. Your discussions will still be here. Even if you don't participate in political activities between elections, you'll find OFN waiting for you when you return.
No software, other than a web browser, is required. Here, you get what you need - not what you don't.
How Does OFN Remain Unbiased?
At OFN, we understand that for every opinion about any subject, there are many others that differ. Our personal opinions are kept out of our management of this system because we understand that this system is for everyone - not just the 'people who agree with us'. Our own staff has a variety of political beliefs, and some have more than others.
An individuals beliefs come from their understanding of information that they have obtained. Some people get their beliefs and opinions based on historical events, some from family beliefs, others from personal study, some from the media and others from actual interaction/participation in a process. What 'we' think is guaranteed to be different from what many others think, but that doesn't make us 'right' or others 'wrong'. It simply means that the freedoms that all people enjoy are working.
How Secure is my Personal Information?
OurFreedomNetwork does not use your personal information for any purpose other than to maintain your account. We do not sell, give, loan, trade or barter your personal information (including your email address and phone number) with any third party - or any company/entity that OFN deals with. Your information is only made public if YOU have authorized it, and that is just for your personal member profile page, in discussion forums and/or other on-site functions.
And, if you happen to be browsing this site in search of an answer to the question, "How can my company make a deal with OurFreedomNetwork to get ahold of their vast database of member information" here is your answer: You can't, so don't bother trying.
What is a Chapter?
A Chapter is a group of people who are situated in a geographically similar location. Chapters are set up by city, county, state and national chapters of individual political parties.
Members in a city will be in a Chapter for that city.
Members in a city Chapter within a county, will be in that County Chapter.
Members in a county Chapter within a state, will be in that State Chapter.
All members will be in their National Chapter.
What Happens if I am the First Person in my Local Chapter to Sign Up on OFN?
When you sign up, the OFN system will automatically put you into your local, county, state and national chapters. Even though you may be the first in your city, odds are you'll find other members at the County/State/National levels.
What is a Team?
A Team is any number of OFN Members who work together for a specific purpose under a specific Team title. Teams are usually made up of Members who are familiar with, and comfortable doing, specific tasks. A Team could be individuals who have experience in setting up campaign fundraising events. A Team could be filled with people who are good at researching historical documents. The list of potential purposes of a team is endless.
A Team can be used within the OFN system for a variety of purposes. It can be invited to work with a Group or Network to accomplish a task, or can be created from within a Group or Network to complete a specific purpose. Teams can be created to only allow specific Members to apply for them (based on location or party), or can be opened up to all members across any geographical location, party or lack of a party.
Teams have a leader, which is usually the Member who formed the Team to begin with, or the Member who was nominated to serve as the Team leader when the team was originally created. Team leaders can pass their leadership positions to other members, or share them with Team members. A Team leader, or a Team member who shares the leadership role, have the ability to accept new Team members, join the Team to OFN Groups or Networks who require their assistance, and moderate the Team Forum for that Team.
What is a Group?
A Group is exactly what it sounds like - a group of people. Specifically, a Group is two or more people who have agreed to come together for any reason at all. Groups, within the OFN system, have abilities that an individual member does not. For instance, a Group can have a discussion forum specific to the interests of the Group members and only available to those members. A Group can create Projects on the system, or use it's numbers to assist other Groups or Chapters within the system by joining a Network, or through the creation of Teams from within the Group members.
What is a Network?
A Network, as it is defined for OFN, is what happens when two or more Chapters and/or Groups combine under one cause.
The difference between a Network and a Group is that a single individual cannot join a Network by themselves. Where Groups are made up of individuals, Networks are made up of Groups and/or Chapters.
Networks can create Projects on the system and assign specific project-related tasks to chapters, groups or individual within the network.
A Network has it's own private Discussion Forum, only accessible by their active Network Members.
Which Political Party(s) can Use OFN?
All of them. Whether you are a Democrat, Republican, Green, Independant, Unaffiliated or of ANY political background - you are welcome at OFN.
When you sign up as a member, you can select a specific party, or no party at all. You may change party affliation whenever you decide to - and the system will automatically adjust for that change. However, if you were a part of any Group or Network within the OFN system that is based on Political Party - your access to those groups, their forums, newsletters and/or other OFN related tools directly connected to that party will be disabled. OFN Currently has all 81 validated political parties to choose from.
How do Projects Work?
Projects can be anything from political research groups to door-to-door campaigning, putting up campaign signs to organizing events, and the list is endless.
The OFN Project system allows members to administer, participate in, and report on the results of any political action. From determining the number of people required, to funding concerns, location management and/or timeframes; an entire project can be maintained and monitored using this system.
The best part of the Project system is in it's ability to assist in future projects. The details of all projects, including their reported success or failure outcomes, can be searched and viewed by members to assist in the planning of future projects.
